Shielding EzTV668 receiver

Sunday October 28th, 2012 by Acinonyx

The soldering side does not need any additional shielding since the PCB has a ground copper pour which protects the components from EMI.

The component side can be shielded using aluminum tape or aluminum foil and glue stick (photo #1). I used a small spring, taken from and old battery case, to achieve electrical connectivity between the foil and the PCB ground. The spring was soldered in such a way that it touches the aluminum tape when the casing is closed.

For extra shielding against EMI from the computer itself, I used a USB extension cord on which I added a proper ferrite bead.
